A house above the bay had a loose gravel driveway running up to the garage and no proper entry at all. We put in a broom-finish concrete driveway and, at the front door, a stamped Italian Slate entry landing: the same slab, a different finish, chosen because the owners wanted the entry to look like something and the driveway to be hard-wearing and quiet underfoot. That is worth saying plainly, because it is how decorative concrete actually gets sold — not as a separate service but as a finish you choose inside a job you were having done anyway. Coastal work does change the specification. Salt air, a genuinely wet winter and ground that stays soft mean the base matters more, not less, and a slab that would be fine inland will move here if it was poured on something thin.
