Foundations

A foundation is the one part of a building nobody sees and everybody pays for twice if it is wrong. We form and pour footings, stem walls and slab-on-grade for new houses, additions, garages, shops and outbuildings, and we dig them ourselves, which is the part that keeps a schedule honest. When the excavation and the concrete are the same company, there is no morning where the forms cannot go up because the dig came in an inch off and the two contractors are on the phone to each other instead of to you. We tie our own steel, set anchor bolts and hold-downs where the plans put them, coordinate the inspection and pour behind it. Then we strip, backfill and compact, so the framer arrives to a site he can actually work on rather than a hole with a foundation in the middle of it. Most of our foundation work is for builders and homeowners around Newberg, Dundee, McMinnville and Carlton, and most of it runs to somebody else's calendar — a framing crew booked, a crane day, a delivery. We build to that date and we tell you early if anything is going to move it. That is the whole job, really: get it square, get it strong, get it done the week you said.
